Raye Catran grew up in rural Tauranga and has had an affinity with the native forest in the Kaimais from childhood. Several years of city living in Auckland has given her an interest in urban settings interpreted as houses linked to native flora. She has been involved with art all her life and enjoys researching for and arranging her compositions, then carrying out the detailed works.
