Bay of Plenty Garden and Art Festival

Bloom in the Bay

Arboreal Ark – Marion Nicholas

It is great to work in our arboreal ark, which is home to the largest collection of Northern Hemisphere trees south of the Equator, 15,000 trees from 62 Nations. 144 species and 1182 specimens at the arboretum are classified as being ‘threatened’ via the IUCN and their Red List of Species, along with a 5 star Garden of National Significance. I will give an overview of our 110-year history and how we became the National Arboretum of NZ.

Eastwood Hill – Marion Nicholas

I have been visiting Eastwoodhill for at least 30 years, have been a Friend for a number of years – involving volunteer work in gift shop on weekends, and started work here Sept 2016.
