Rose enthusiasts, prepare to be thrilled! This garden features 150 roses – all named varieties.

This “quarter acre” garden also has a productive backyard with numerous fruit trees… and an impressively-aged (46-year-old) Bruno kiwifruit vine. The garden also includes raised vegetable beds and pretty flowering edges for added interest.

"Artists at Palmers Bethlehem Series" - 27th-28th April
Head to Palmers Bethlehem this weekend to see the handcrafted copper artworks designed and made by Tony Barnett - Copper Poppa!
Copper Poppa’ was originally launched as a hobby. "Working in plumbing I’ve always had access to unwanted copper. In my spare time, I would take old hot water systems and Zip heaters and give them a new lease on life, recycling them into garden pots or water features for our own garden. I inherited some of my father’s metal work tools, and I appreciated working with these as I created every new piece."
Copper Poppa uses both new and recycled copper to create unique art pieces, planters and more from his workshop in Mount Maunganui.

Paula Knight's art is well known and equally well

Paula Knight's art is well known and equally well loved, and we are excited to say she will be back this November with her amazing creations!
Paula has a background in botanical painting and now paints mostly NZ coastal sea/landscapes in acrylic. 'I love the space between land and sea…the coast, with a focus on native plants." she enthuses. Recent works feature larger than life, colourful native flowers, plants, birds and butterflies. 'I care deeply about our precious native flora and fauna and want to celebrate its uniqueness."
For this year's festival Paula is excited about "meeting new people and catching up with others from previous festivals and as I've been in the Garden & Art fest since its conception, there are always many old faces. Also sharing my latest works."

We are delighted to have Lynne Brown return for th

We are delighted to have Lynne Brown return for this year's Bay of Plenty Garden and Art Festival! Always drawn to nature, especially land and seascapes, her semi abstract paintings are moody and restful, often including small buildings to emphasis our relationship with our natural world. She paints intuitively, with layers of transparent acrylics, her work evokes memories of places once visited. Lynne's work is enjoyed locally, nationally and internationally.

Lynne shared with us "Being an artist can be quite solitary and what I like about the Garden and Art festival is that the people who visit my art stop are very supportive of my work. In the space of a few days, I go from wondering if people will like my work, to absolute certainty that I am on the right track. Although it can be daunting to open up your home and soul to countless people, I encourage others to be brave enough to do this. The sales are, of course great, but mostly it is the comments and gratitude of those who visit that keep me painting."

Welcome to the gorgeous "Greerton Sub-tropical hide away" created by Sally Blockley! This is the perfect 1940's art deco home to show you don't need a large property to have different zones. Following the sun around is a patio coffee zone, then a fire pit gazebo for BBQ, movies & relaxing. The front yard offers the perfect place to relax, under the gazebo with the pond and bright tropical plantings to enjoy. Flowers steal the show at "The Owlery" in Pyes Pa! This large country style garden offers visitors so much to see. Swathes of green lawns are complimented by well-established herbaceous borders, a 100+ year old oak tree and trellised vege garden. A hidden door, croquet pavilion and rustic archway offset beds overflowing with rhododendrons, roses, perennials and wildflowers. The more adventurous can discover a secret pathway down a steep bank to a shady retreat.

New to the 2024 BOP Garden and Art Festival is art

New to the 2024 BOP Garden and Art Festival is artist Brian Ebbett. We asked Brian about his practice and he shared the following :)
"I reignited my passion for art later in life initially experimenting with different styles and mediums, discovering a preference for oils. The appeal of oils for me lies in their buttery consistency, rich and dense colours and their versatility. I love painting 'wet on wet'...smoothly fusing the paints together. I vary my subject matter, I mostly enjoy painting NZ landscapes, Flora and Fauna. As Alexander Pope said - "All gardening is landscape painting". I'm excited about celebrating this close relationship between art and gardening by sharing my artwork which is my way of celebrating New Zealand's unique flora, fauna and scenery."
We're excited to have Brian as part of the festival and look forward to seeing his latest artworks in November!
