We are loving following the journey of Sally Blockley as part of our Garden Mentor Scheme. She has teamed up with Nichola from Zones Landscaping Specialists to bring her garden vision to life. 🌟
She has been planning some outdoor gazebo mood lighting for the spring / summer months ahead and we think it is looking absolutely fabulous! Bring on spring time!
She wanted something rather unique as well as moveable so they could be moved around.
Enter the idea of some very cool rattan light shades which have been polyurethaned to help with weather. They have a Edison Pull On lighting inside to give beautiful mood lighting.

Pondering what to focus on next in your garden? 🍋🍊
Sally from The Garden Project has got you covered with these four tips:
#1 - It's a great time to PRUNE your FRUIT TREES, if you can find a few sunny days in a row! I don't use a paste to seal the cuts, I think it might also lock moisture into the wound. I spray liquid seaweed and compost tea after I've pruned to give the tree an immune boost to cope with the prune instead.
#2 - CUT BACK your LAVENDER if you haven't already. Cut out any dead wood and cut back the rest to the bottom of where new green leaves are shooting. It might get very woody if not pruned right back every year.
#3 - CLEAN your PRUNERS + SECATEURS in meths or something similar in between each tree or plant so as not to spread and diseases.
#4 - DIG up a COMFREY PLANT (symhytum officinale), break the roots into 10cm pieces and plant all around the drip line of your fruit trees! Come spring it will create a wonderful living mulch, when 'chopped and dropped' provides an excellent fertiliser for your soil and has many other wonderful attributes!

The trail spans from Katikati to Te Puke with all gardens open to explore on all four festival days. Our festival boasts a myriad of delights from small urban gardens to large rolling country gardens – many are new to the festival but rest assured, old favourites have returned too.
Adding to the offering are art stops along the way. In some cases there is the opportunity to see artists working from their own studios. Matching artists with gardens is what makes this garden trail unique. Local and national artists are displaying a wide variety of artwork in several different mediums. 👩🎨👨🎨
