Stella Clark is a Mount Maunganui-based artist known for her large-scale mixed media works on wood and canvas. Her art explores both the local landscape and abstract ideas, using texture, colour, and scale to evoke a deep sense of place.
Her seascapes often begin with sketches and photographs of the area, evolving through playful experimentation and bold tools, big brushes, squeegees, and anything else that gets the job done. Stella also works in printmaking and enjoys exploring the intersection between painting and texture.
During the Open Studio weekend, visitors will find a lounge and gallery space inside her working warehouse studio, with the added bonus of an interactive printmaking activity using a vintage repurposed press.
