Early experimentation with varied mediums at ArtsPost, Hamilton, led Dee on her path of discovery. Developing her own personal style – involving the use of dried poppy petals – she incorporates the natural beauty and form of the flower into an enduring memory of its fleeting existence. Moving from mixed media to acrylics to encaustic, Dee’s artworks are a constantly changing landscape. The encaustic element of her work involves preservation – beeswax and resin preserve precious belongings, ensuring their history is secured in the Artworks narrative.
