John East – John East NZ Art (Stop 10)

John East brings the vivid beauty of Aotearoa’s natural world to life through bold, expressive acrylic paintings. His work features native birds, botanicals, and horses. Subjects renderedn with a dynamic energy and a vibrant palette that’s become his signature style.

Studied at Elam School of Fine Art, John is based in Omokoroa, where the coastal landscape offers daily inspiration. Each painting he creates is original and evolving, shaped by his connection to the environment and a passion for exploring colour and composition.

His work is both unmistakably local and uniquely his own, capturing the rhythm of the land and its creatures in ways that are striking and soulful.

During the Open Studios weekend, John will exhibit in a pop-up studio connected to his home. John will be on site to answer any queriers you may have about his art and looks forward to seeing you.
