Suzy Granger is the ceramic artist behind Slab Ceramics, a practice that blends functionality with expressive hand-built form. Working across a variety of clays and glaze techniques, Suzy creates elegant yet organic vessels, bowls, and kitchenware, some thrown on the wheel, others crafted through hand-building methods that showcase her love for texture and surface design.
Her work moves fluidly between sculptural and practical, always with an eye for form, balance, and character. Based in Papamoa Beach, Suzy creates from her home studio and fires her own kiln on site. Her ceramics are stocked in boutiques throughout Aotearoa, and she has produced commissioned pieces for interior designers. Her work has been featured in Haven magazine and NZ House & Garden.
For the Open Studios weekend, Suzy will be exhibiting alongside friend and fellow artist Emma Davie Aiaraisa at Emma’s purpose-built studio and gallery on Dickson Road. Their complementary styles have previously drawn great feedback in a joint exhibition, and this shared venue offers visitors a dynamic two-for-one experience.
