Deb Clarke is a bold and expressive watercolour artist known for her grand-scale floral works and vibrant depictions of native birds. Her distinctive approach embraces nature’s palette with a rich yet limited colour range, bringing both delicacy and drama to her compositions. Deb is now expanding her practice into land and seascapes, continuing to explore the beauty of the natural world through fluid, intuitive brushwork.
In a response to how collectors engage with watercolour, Deb has recently begun presenting her artworks on 640gsm paper stretched over canvas frames and varnished, allowing for glass-free display while preserving the luminous quality of the medium.
This year, Deb will welcome visitors to her new studio space on Ngatai Road. The space is freshly built and thoughtfully laid out. The ground-floor garage and studio areas provide a light-filled, accessible environment where Deb will be painting live throughout the weekend. Works in progress will be on display, and she hopes to offer a small watercolour workshop for those keen to try the medium themselves.
