Inspired by the rhythm and richness of nature, Jacqui’s mixed media work celebrates the beauty of ocean life, natural textures and organic form. Her large scale canvases are layered in acrylic paint, pastel and charcoal. Expressive brushwork and printed impressions guide vibrant colour, shape and delicate contrast. Recent work investigates beautiful sculptural seaweed forms, from the seaweed currently washing up on her local Arataki beach.
Jacqui’s approach is intuitive and immersive and her light-filled garden studio is not only the creative heart of her own practice, but also a nurturing space for her community.
Jacqui runs weekly art classes for adults, teens, and children during the school term, with a loyal following of returning students who describe the space as calm, creative and welcoming.
During Open Studios, visitors are invited to view her art, see work in progress and take part in an engaging hands-on nature-inspired print activity, creating a small take-home piece.
