Emma Davie’s paintings are raw, intuitive, and emotionally resonant, an abstract expression of her deep connection to the land, the unseen, and the subconscious self. Working primarily in acrylic and oil on canvas or paper, her process is fluid and unplanned. She lets the work emerge naturally, building texture and depth through layers of mark-making, erasure, and experimentation.
Inspired by the emotional impact of nature and place, Emma’s abstract works act as visual meditations. They invite viewers to step inside their own inner landscapes, to reflect, feel, and remember. Every brushstroke is a gesture of response, a trace of a moment lived or sensed.
While Emma explores a variety of materials, her practice is anchored in expressive abstraction. The result is art that feels both intimate and expansive, full of feeling, mystery, and quiet power.
Her studio in Papamoa is a purpose-built creative space attached to her home, complemented by a newly painted garage-turned-gallery. The space is designed for connection and calm, featuring a full gallery hanging system and inviting displays across both rooms. Emma will be sharing her studio with potter Suzy Granger, offering visitors the chance to enjoy two distinct artistic styles in one welcoming stop.
