Acrylic and watercolour artist Jen Wills captures the magic of coastal living through soft, joyful scenes inspired by her surroundings in Mount Maunganui. Her paintings often feature children playing on the beach, wild dune flowers, shells, and the ever-changing shoreline, each piece drawn from her own photographs and observations.
Jen’s art blends floral and coastal elements, reflecting her love of cottage gardens and the sea. With a growing body of work and recent recognition as a third-place winner in the Emerging Artists group at the Bay of Plenty Garden and Art Festival, she’s excited to welcome visitors into her sunny, plant-filled studio.
Her conservatory workspace opens onto a lush back lawn framed by pōhutukawa trees and is separate from the main house, offering a warm and inviting space. If the weather allows, artworks will also be displayed outside on easels, creating a relaxed, garden-gallery feel. There may even be a sweet treat or two on offer, especially for those who take a piece of art home.
