John Roy (Stop 19)

With over three decades of experience working in clay, John Roy is a celebrated New Zealand ceramicist whose hand-built earthenware pieces have earned a place in galleries and public collections across the country.

His work is held in the Tauranga Art Gallery, Christchurch Art Gallery, Sarjeant Gallery, Dowse Art Museum, and Auckland War Memorial Museum. John’s distinctive style and deep knowledge of the medium reflect a lifetime of dedication to his craft. Each piece speaks to his refined sensibility and mastery of form, offering visitors the opportunity to experience the work of a truly established artist.

His home studio in Matua is tucked behind the house and provides an intimate setting to see where and how he works.
