Lynn Isherwood is a ceramicist and painter whose creative practice is grounded in tactile exploration and imaginative expression. Her handbuilt ceramic works, ranging from planters, vases, and bowls to whimsical sculptures, totems, and wall tiles, reflect a deep engagement with the form, texture, and quirks of each clay body.
Pinching, coiling, and slab-building are central to her process, allowing her to play with theme and variation in an intuitive, evolving way. As a painter, Lynn works primarily in acrylic on beech board, often framing the finished works in natural wood cradles.
Her paintings range from portraits and imagined creatures to abstract explorations, all vibrant with colour and guided by spontaneous inspiration. Lynn’s gallery and working studio are located in a road-front unit attached to her Matua home.
The space is rich with creativity, ceramics in various stages of drying or glazing, paintings mid-progress, and colourful works displayed both inside and in the surrounding garden. Visitors are encouraged to wander through this warm, inviting space where art and process live side by side.
